Welcome

Miranda Grisales-Buell, MA, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Trauma Informed Certified Yoga Teacher.

My Story

Hello!

Let’s start by taking a moment and sighing it all out!...Better?

Hi, I am Miranda!  I am always so  excited to share the lifestyle and philosophy of Ayurveda, and how it has changed the way I approach my life and my families. And through my practice I have seen it positively change and heal others too.

It’s amazing to see how small changes can lead to huge lifestyle benefits.

Ayurveda has helped me see that we need to identify our core nature, so we can feed the healer and not the dis-ease. While Yoga movement, breathwork, and mantra (affirmations) help with befriending my mind and emotions,  Ayurveda has further helped me understand my relationship to mind, body, emotions, spirit, and the Universe. We have all the healing mechanisms within our own body to work towards overcoming our health problems.

When I was 23 I was diagnosed with Lupus. Thankfully I had been minoring in Holistic Medicine, and was informed on a few paths I could explore. After many years of seeking alternative avenues, through treatments, diet, and herbs, I maintained wellness and eventually reversed Lupus.

Due to  unresolved traumas at the time, a few years later I was diagnosed with Hashimotos, thyroid disease. I took herbs, supplements, increased real foods, started eating animal protein, and took out a bunch of healthy foods that I was told I was intolerant of. While this worked short term, it was not a long term solution.

Ayurveda has taught me that my body is unique, and the approach to healing and maintaining personal wellness cannot be standard. Working with our true nature, and understanding what elements are out of balance in our body, we can work with creating the optimal state for healing. All the ingredients we need come from our nature and mother nature.

Just like our lives, and nature…our bodies too go through different phases. And starting with understanding food, and routines that align with the seasons, we can better listen to what we need to feed ourselves. This is not just limited to food, but also what we choose to take in from our surroundings, including the type of exercise, what we read, watch, and our daily interactions.

I specialize in working with women, youth, and families. My passion lies in  working with women to tap into their innate wisdom and power as they go through their own season in life; and empowering them on their unique healing journey.

I love working with people and guiding them towards this natural way of living. Once I teach my clients some foundational approaches, and minor changes, Ayurveda becomes second nature, because it really is the way we each are originally born.

My Work

Miranda offers in depth holistic health assessments to individuals who are looking to maintain wellness or create a state of balance in the body to prevent dis-ease. Each client receives an individualized healing protocol. Protocols could include, but not limited to, suggestions for lifestyle changes, specific yoga asana and breathwork exercises, adding in or eliminating specific foods, herbs, and spices.

Other services include Pranic Healing (energy medicine), private and group yoga, somatic movement and breathwork, corporate yoga for companies, school staff and students, and nonprofits.

Miranda is passionate about working with women and guiding them in maintaining optimal health; empowering women to see their own unique qualities and recognizing that they are their own best healer.

Located in the Mid-west, she has been owner and founder of Calm Yoga since 2018. She is currently a Co-Chair for 815 Eliminate Racism’s Health Committee and has office hours at The Family Peace Center in Rockford.

Miranda is a mother of 2 boys, 14 & 11. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her kids and husband, and loves cooking meals from around the globe! Especially Colombian food, the birthplace of both her mother and father.
